Generally, what can I expect in terms of product availability duration and reprint viability for the various Magic: The Gathering lines and product types?

Each Magic: The Gathering product's availability is evaluated continuously and individually with the goal of meeting customer demand while maintaining the collectible nature of our products. You can generally expect the following to be true for each MTG release:

  • Products targeted at a collector audience are produced as a one-time, limited print run. This includes products such as Collector Boosters, Collector Commander Decks, and specialty Bundles (like the Finish Line, Nightmare or Compleat Edition). Play Boosters and Collector Boosters from Masters and Remastered releases are similarly one-time limited print runs.
  • Regular Bundles and Prerelease Kits are also produced in a single print-run.
  • Play Boosters, Commander Decks, and Starter Kits are intended to be widely available for a longer time. As a result, they are continuously monitored and may be reprinted to meet demand well past launch. We generally seek to make Play Boosters available for Standard-legal sets throughout their duration in the format.
  • Other products not captured here are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

While we anticipate the above will be generally true across releases, unique circumstances could lead to deviations. Please reach out to your distributor(s) for specific product availability details.
