One of the major perks of being a WPN store is the privilege of Prerelease Early Sales. This policy allows local game stores to sell sealed products from the new set during Prerelease week, whereas other retail outlets (like big box stores or online-only sellers) must wait until the official release date. However, it’s essential to understand the rules and timing around early sales to avoid any street date violations.
Here are the key points of the Early Sales Policy as it currently stands:
- When Early Sales Start: You are allowed to begin selling the new set’s products at the start of Prerelease weekend. In practice, this means from the Friday of Prerelease, as soon as your store opens that day (there’s no specific time for sales; the noon restriction was for events, not sales).
- What Can Be Sold Early: The full suite of products for the set can be sold starting at Prerelease. This means Draft Boosters, Set Boosters, Collector Boosters, Bundles, Commander Decks, Prerelease Packs (for at-home use), and singles.
- Buy-a-Box Promos: With early booster box sales, don’t forget to give out the Buy-a-Box promo card (if one exists for that set) to anyone purchasing a full display.
- No Delivery Before Prerelease: One caveat – while you can take online orders or pre-orders, do not ship any new set products that will be delivered to the customer before the first official day of Prerelease.
