How to Create and Schedule Events in Wizards EventLink

Wizards EventLink is the official web-based event management tool for WPN stores. It helps you schedule, run, and report Magic: The Gathering events. This guide walks you through the essential steps to set up your events efficiently while attracting new players and supporting your store’s WPN metrics.

Step 1: Log In

Visit EventLink.Wizards.com and sign in with your Wizards Account. Confirm your store selection if prompted.

Step 2: Create a New Event

Click on a date in the calendar or select "Create New Event".

  • You can also use "Use an Official Template" for quick setup (e.g., Commander Party, Prerelease).
  • If your event is not one of the WPN Program events like Prerelease, Commander Party, or Store Championship, you can create a custom event. These are great for “Open Play Events.”

Step 3: Fill in Event Details

  • Event Title: Use clear, descriptive names (e.g., "Friday Night Magic: Pioneer").
  • Format: Choose the correct Magic format (e.g., Standard, Commander, Sealed).
  • Pairing Method:
    • Use Swiss for competitive events.
    • Use Player List Only for casual/open play.
  • Date/Time: Verify and adjust as needed.
  • Entry Fee: Enter a whole number dollar amounts.
  • Capacity: Optional.
  • Description: Include prizing info, format summary, and any signup links.
  • Venue: Choose from your approved venues (default is your store).
  • Publish Option: Check the box to appear on the Store & Event Locator if public.

Step 4: Sanction the Event

Click the create button to finalize. The event appears on your calendar and, if published, the Store & Event Locator.

Advanced Features

Use Off-Site Venues

Submit a venue request via Store Settings > Venues. Approval is required before it appears in the venue dropdown.

Assign Staff Roles

Add staff under Store Settings > Staff Permissions:

  • Store Admins: Can create and run events.
  • Scorekeepers: Can run but not schedule events.

Event Templates

Templates pre-fill event details to save time. Use them for common events like FNM, Prerelease, and more.

Best Practices

  • Schedule in Advance: Helps with planning and increases visibility.
  • Be Clear and Specific: Use full words and include prize details.
  • Promote Your Events: Use your website, social media, and in-store signage.
  • Use the Companion App: Encourage players to check in, view pairings, and report results.
  • Track Open Play: Use unpublished Player List Only events to log casual games and grow your WPN metrics.

Next Steps

Head to EventLink and start scheduling your next WPN event. Don’t forget to report results promptly and explore event templates to make planning even faster.
