In the WPN system, your metrics directly influence what your store gets from Wizards in terms of promotional and product support.
Here are the main ways metrics tie into rewards and allocations:
- Promo Allocations: Wizards uses your Tickets and Engaged Players counts to decide how many Promo Packs (and other seasonal promo items) your store will receive for each new set or season. Essentially, there are tiers or thresholds of metrics – if you hit higher numbers, you move up into getting more promos. Both metrics matter: typically, Wizards will look at whichever of your Ticket or Engaged count is lower relative to the thresholds to set your allocation. This means you need to maintain a balance; you can’t have one sky-high and the other lagging far behind. For example, if your store has a ton of total entries (Tickets) but only a few repeat players (Engaged), that might indicate lots of one-off players – Wizards wants to see both breadth and depth of community. In practice, say to get X number of Promo Packs, you might need at least 1000 Tickets and 30 Engaged Players; if one of those is below the mark, your allocation might be at the lower tier. The exact threshold numbers aren’t publicly published as a simple chart (they can adjust and are relative across stores), but the principle is: the more people you have playing and the more often they play, the more Promo Packs and promos (like FNM promos, Commander party promos, etc.) you will earn. High metrics essentially “unlock” greater support.
- Consistency and Grace Periods: It’s worth noting that we understand metrics can fluctuate due to external factors (seasonality, etc.). We historically have implemented systems like snapshot periods or grace periods (for example, after the pandemic, they used a pre-pandemic snapshot for a while as a floor). Normally though, if your metrics drop, your allocations will adjust downward after some time. If they rise, allocations adjust upward. Changes aren’t instant or month-to-month; Wizards typically reviews metrics at set intervals (sometimes tied to set releases or quarterly). The best approach is to strive for a steady upward trend or at least steady maintenance of metrics so that you either keep what you have or increase, rather than see a decline.
- Communication from WPN: You can usually see your current metrics by logging into the WPN site or via communications Wizards sends. Often, before a new season, they’ll email or post what your upcoming allocations for Promo Packs, Prerelease kits, etc., will be. If those are lower than you expected, it could be a metrics issue. Conversely, if you see an increase – congrats, your community likely grew!
